Umuokeyi Community decry Power Outage

Power outage in Umuokeyi Community of Enyiukwu Afara has remained a source of concern to the people. They have called on EEDC to find a solution to the problem.

 

Umuokeyi Community of Enyiukwu Afara in Umuahia North Local Government Area is in the news again for the same reason - power outage.

 

The community is said to have been in darkness for long until succour later came to the people through philanthropist who donated a 500KVA transformer in April this year.

 

But there joy was short-lived when a few weeks ago, the new transformer damaged and the community was thrown into darkness again.

 


 

Following the people’s outcry, factnewsonline visited the Umuahia office of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC)

 

The Principal Manager, Operations, Engr. Livinus Nwoha said the company was aware of the problem.

 

He said efforts were being made to replace the damaged transformer.

 

He also said that the problem was not peculiar to Enyiukwu Community, but that they have a long list of failed transformers in various areas that are wearing for attention.

 

Onuoha revealed that they have so far installed about five transformers in different areas of Aba and assured that the community would be reconnected before Christmas.
