Okezie Ikpeazu sworn in as Abia governor

The People's Democratic Party's candidate at the just concluded governorship election, Okezie Ikpeazu has been sworn in as the governor of Abia State.

The historic event was held at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, with the Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Uzokwe administering the oath of office.

The event started with a passing out parade held in honour of the former governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji, who inspected the guards of honour.
The oath of office was administered on the governor Okezie Ikpeazu and his deputy Udeh Okochukwu.

This followed a speech by the former Governor of the state, Theodore Orji, who appreciated the people of the state for their support during his eight years as governor,while urging the new administration to build on existing structures and legacies by his administration and abide by his campaign promises.

The train moved to the Umuahia Township Stadium where an interdenominational service was held for the governor.
On arrival,the executive governor, Okezie Ikpeazu inspected his first guard of honour.

Abians from all works of life gathered in their numbers to witness the colourful ceremony.
The Umuahia Township Stadiun,venue of the interdenominational thanksgiving service was filled to capacity as various groups paraded with great euphoria in solidarity to the first ever governor of the state from the Ukwa la Ngwa extraction of the state.

The officiating Minister,who is also the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Abia State chapter, Bishop Goddy Okafor admonished the new governor to walk with God and be courageous while calling on Abians to always pray for their leaders and be ready to witness the positive change that will come from the new administration.

The executive governor of the state,Okezie Ikpeazu appreciated Abians for their love and support for him,while reassuring of his commitment to his campaign promises.

With the inauguration of the new governor, Abians believe it is a new dawn for the state in dire need of infrastructural and social development.
