Music legend B.B. King died at the age of 89 on Thursday May 14, 2015 at about 9:40pm. Confirming his death, his attorney, Brent Bryson, told The Associated Press the Blues icon died peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 p.m in Las Vegas. Born in Mississippi, King began performing in the 1940s, going on to influence a generation of musicians from Blues to R&B and Pop, with his influence stretching to Hip-hop and many other genres and cultures from America to Europe and Africa. Known for hits like Lucille, Sweet Black Angel and Rock Me Baby, he was one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

His music, like his live sets, is characterised by intermittent conversations with audiences, his ‘made-for-blues’ voice, impeccable guitar solos, and a rich band usually boasting rich percussions. He had enough repertoire – and incredible energy- to perform for days.

t King was awarded his 15th Grammy award in 2009 for the album One Kind Favor. Two years later, he gave an amazing live performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. He was also inducted into both the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone magazine placed him behind only Jimi Hendrix and Duane Allman in its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time....
