Gov.Orji,others receive certificate of return

Elected National Assembly candidates have received their certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Umuahia. Factnewsonline was there. The event which was held at the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters in Umuahia had the Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates-elect in attendance, except Nnenna Ukeje and Nkiruka Onyejiocha of Bende and Umunneochi Federal constituencies. The INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega represented by the National Commissioner for Abia State, Amb. Lawrence Ngurugu urged politicians in the state to eschew violence and embrace peace. Amb. Ngurugu noted that politics is not a do or die affair, but a call to service bestowed to man by God, describing Abia as the pride of not just Nigeria but Africa. This was followed by the issuance of certificates to the senators and House of Representatives elect. First,the three senatorial candidates,Mao Ohuabunwa,Gov. Theodore Orji and Sen.Enyinnaya Abaribe. Members of the House of Representatives who received Certificate of Return include Darlington Nwokocha, Sam Onuigbo,Solomon Adaelu,Nkole Uko,and Ossy Prestige of the All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA. Some of the candidates who spoke to factnewsonline expressed excitement at the issuance which authenticates their victory. They maintained that though it presents a stiff opposition in both chambers of the National Assembly,but its also a moment to rebuild a stronger Peoples Democratic Party as an opposition party. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe in his vote of thanks on behalf of the elected candidates appreciated INEC and called on those who lost out in the elections to concede defeat in the spirit of sportsmanship. The event was attended by family members,friends and well wishers of the elected candidates.
