The Abia State chapter of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) executive committee members and other leaders of the party in the state have adopted the People's Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for the April 11th governorship election in the state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, as their sole candidate for this week’s governorship elections.

Addressing a press conference in their party secretariat at Mission Hill, Umuahia, the state chairman of APGA, Prince Nnanna Ukaegbu and the state Publicity Secretary, Snr. Apostle Kingsley Maduako alleged that Alex Otti is not the governorship candidate of APGA having obtained APGA expression of interest and nomination form before purportedly becoming a member of the party, adding that he did not emerge through a duly and lawfully conducted APGA primaries in accordance with the constitution of the party.

The state chairman of APGA said that Alex Otti having been born in Arochukwu LGA also picked his deputy candidate form from Ohafia to marginalize a section of the state thereby trying to breach the peace in the state.

According to them, they reached the decision after a careful perusal and scrutiny of the programme and manifesto of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, adding that his agenda did not subscribe to borrowing money from bank to develop Abia State unlike his other governorship candidates who plan to borrow to run the state thereby indebting the state.

They called on their teeming supporters and Abians to vote for Dr. Ikpeazu as the Governor of Abia State and sir Ude Okochukwu as his running mate.

Speaking later at a heart warming ceremony held at Abia Hotels conference hall, Umuahia, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu described the action of prince Ukaegbu and his executive members as a reflection of his nationalistic nature, pointing out that he is humbled by the decision and action and promised to create a platform where they will contribute to the upliftment of the state.

He assured that non of them will be marginalized or discriminated against as he will provide a level playing ground for all.
