The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega has reinstated that the electorates can wait after casting their ballots at the polling units, to hear the announcement of the results.
This is coming against the instruction of the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, who said voters should leave the venue after voting.
The INEC Boss, made his point clear at INEC National stakeholders Summit on the general elections, where he unveiled the procedure for the elections, and launched the official "myINEC".
Jega who reaffirmed the commissions readiness for the general elections, said the aspirations of Nigerians will be met, while promising that the exercise will be better than what obtained in 2011.

He said the elections will be credible and transparent and the collation of results downloaded online via the INEC app for those who can't wait behind at the units after the ballot.
Jega explained that three ballot boxes will be at each polling unit and voting point. The box with the red cover/lid is for the presidential election, the one with black lid/cover for senatorial, while the one with green lid/cover will be used for the House of Representatives.

Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba who noted that he was advising the electorates and politicians to stay away from the polling units after casting their votes, said waiting could contravene the Electoral Act, especially on loitering, citing section 129 of the Electoral Acts as a backdrop.
He however assured that his men will be civil in their dealings with the public, noting that the military will be deployed 300 metres from the polling units to play a support role.
