PDP WOMEN WING HOLDS PRESIDENTIAL RALLY IN UMUAHIA

The Women Wing of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,has held a campaign rally in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. The event attracted first lady Dame Patience Jonathan. Factnewsonline was there.

The event which attracted women leaders of the political party from across Nigeria,was held at the Umuahia Township Stadium. The stadium was filled to capacity as women come out en masse to show their support for the re-election of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Wife of Abia State Governor, Odochi Orji in her opening speech re-emphasized the support of Abia Women for the re-election bid of the president. She highlighted  some of the achievements of President Jonathan to include reactivation of the railway, aviation, YOUWIN,Subsidy Re-Investment Programme-SURE-P,as part of his administrations transformation  agenda,insisting that the present administration reduced unemployment rate in the country with its programmes.

Senator Emma Nwaka,State Chairman of the PDP, also noted that the most significant stride of President Jonathan's administration is civil liberty in the country. He expressed the willingness of the party in the state to return the president.

Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji who described Abia as the ancestral home of the Peoples Democratic Party stated that the campaign was an encouragement to women in politics and the wife of the president.
Governor Orji said, the president has all the qualities needed to run the affairs of this nation for the next four years, while urging Abians to replicate what they did at the 2011 polls, by casting their vote for the president on March 28.

Wife of the president, Dame Patience Jonathan, who was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the senate president, Helen Mark and other PDP women leaders,praised the efforts of President Jonathan in  giving the Nigerian women a voice in all spheres of life, and appreciated Abians for their support for the president.
The first lady described President Jonathan as a man of his words, while calling on women and all Abians to reciprocate by casting their ballot for him on election day.

The event was also an opportunity to urge women to seek elective positions. Women were urged to pick up their PVC's.
Also in attendance at the event were the former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu, Abia PDP Guber candidate Okezie Ikpeazu,Wife of the former Senate President, Mrs. Adolphus Wagbara,Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Elechi, PDP women leaders and the nollywood industry led by Onyeka Onwenu.
