Niger Prison Controller removed following jail break

The Controller of Prisons for the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Prisons Service,Musa Maiyaki,has been removed from office,following the December the 6th jail break in Minna,the state capital.


In a statement by the Nigeria Prisons Service Public Relations officer,Ope Fatinkun,the immediate removal of the Controller of Prisons,Niger State followed the Minister of Interrior,Abba Moro's recommendations,pending the outcome of investigations of the jail break at the Medium Security Prison in Minna.


Others removed include,the officer-in-charge,Medium Security Prison,ACP Mohammed Bena and other officers on duty on the said date of the jail break.
55 officers and men of the zonal and state headquarters in Minna to the Medium Security Prison and the old prison were transfered to tighten security in the two prisons.
