200 People Killed in Kano Mosque

Over 200 people were feared killed in Kano during a multiple bomb blast that rocked the central mosque during Friday prayer.

The explosion occurred minutes after the start of the Jumaat prayer, which also caused serious pandemonium among the Muslim faithful who were at the mosque for the prayer.

The first blast occurred at the roadside near the road leading to Mandawari, while the other two blasts happened inside an open space within the mosque.

Two suspected bombers were also said to have been apprehended during the mob action by the people in the mosque, while several cars and motorcycles were damaged completely beyond recognition.

It was also observed that the mortuary of the Murtala Mohammed Specialist hospital was filled with corpses of the dead people, while the mortuary of Nassarawa Hospital was also overcrowded with corpses with some were littering the ground.

An eyewitness, Ahmed Mohammed Soron Dinki, said: “I was rushing to attend the mosque for the prayer when I heard a big sound and heavy smoke skyrocket the sky.

“It was terrible, I saw more than fifty dead bodies on the bare ground of the mosque and the majority of the dead bodies are kids and their parents”.

It was also revealed that angry protested on the streets of Kano and accused the police of being negligence by not protecting the people.
