Elder Statesman, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu Describes Abia Speaker as a Man of Great Positive Influence

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and the Peoples Democratic Party flagbearer for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the forthcoming 2023 general elections was yesterday hosted by the former Senior Special Adviser on Communications to former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and the first Executive Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu in his country home, in Umule, Umuahia North LGA. 

 

The Speaker who was hosted by the elder statesman after he was honoured with the chieftaincy title of Akaraka Abia (The Destiny of Abia) by the Ohuhu Traditional Rulers Forum led by its Chairman, HRH Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, at Ekeokwuru Umule na Umunso community, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA during the occasion of the clan's Iwa Ji Festival was described by Chief Onyema Ugochukwu as a prominent politician with huge influence and an eminent personality whose advice is sought by leaders across board. 

 

On his part, the Speaker narrated how Chief Onyema played a big role in stabilizing the government when his father, Chief Theodore Ahamefule Orji (CON) was Governor of the state. 

 

Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji stressed that he bore no grudge against any indigene of Ohuhu because every pre-primary election issues have since been discarded from his memory and urged all to join hands together to move Ikwuano/Umuahia forward. 

 

Finally, the Speaker wished the Elderstatesman a long and peaceful life and prayed that God add more years to him. He promised to pay a private visit to him soon. 

 

Chief Onyema Ugochukwu thanked the Speaker for the visit, gave him his blessings and wished him well in his political journey. 

 

Giving the vote of thanks, a former member of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Max Ndukwe Adindu thanked their host for his contributions towards the growth and development of the state. He described the elder statesman as a leader who has exhibited maturity and fatherly love to all. He wished him well and prayed that God continue to keep and sustain him. 

 

The immediate past National Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party and the party's flag bearer for Abia Central Senatorial District at the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Colonel Augustine Akobundu (rtd) and members of the Speaker's campaign council led by Pastor Emeka Inyama and other dignitaries accompanied the Speaker on the visit.
