The Honorable Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, has admonished fathers to be royal priests  in their households and lead examplary life for the collective good of the society.

Chief Okiyi made the call on Sunday at the Presbyterian Church, Umuchichi Road, Off Okpu-Umuobo, Aba, during the 2022 “Father's Day” celebration with the theme “Royal Priesthood”. He urged fathers to take charge of their family altars as priests and ensure that they perform the royal role of leading family members to be useful members of society.

According to him, “born again fathers have inherited the blessings of Jesus Christ who is one of two men in the Bible that were able to combine the role of a priest and a king. The example of Jesus has therefore imposed responsibilities on Christian fathers to lead in establishing an altar for God in their homes as well as lead family members to become useful members of society”.

Chief Okiyi remarked that to stop moral decadence which has become so pervasive in our society today, fathers must rise to the occasion of ensuring  discipline among their children and bring them up in the fear of God.

The Commissioner used the occasion to thank the Church for her support to the government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu assuring them that the administration will continue to work hard to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

"The church through her prayers and spiritual support contributed in no small measure to the peace and progress of the state witnessed since Governor Ikpeazu assumed office. We are confident that, to the glory of God, the Abia we will leave with you in 2023 is a much more better state than we met it because we have successfully built on the foundation laid by the administration before us", he said.

The Commissioner was accompanied to the occasion by Deacon Obioma Daniel, Chairman, Aba North Shoe Industrial Market, Mr Esinna Ogbonna of Good Morning Market, Hon. Emmanuel Odimegwu of Eziukwu Road Market, Hon. Chinyere Matthew, Chairman, Ekeoha Shopping Complex, Elder Emeka Igara, Chairman, Ariaria International Market, and Hon. Okwudiri Ukonu, Chairman Ngwa Road Market.
