A frontline governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, has debunked the malicious rumour making the rounds that the Vice Chancellor of the Abia State University Uturu, Professor Onyemachi Ogbolu, was on his campaign team when he visited former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara on Friday.

The governorship hopeful in a press statement Sunday said that the VC was not part of his campaign team, explaining that it was by coincidence that they met in the former Senate President's country home at Ohambele when he went to condole with him over the death of his wife.

Mayor Igbokwe said that since he was in Ukwa land for consultations with PDP delegates and stakeholders ahead of the party's primaries, he therefore, thought it wise as protocols required to visit Senator Wabara who is not only a leader but a critical stakeholder in the party being the Secretary of the Board of Trustees BoT of the party.

According, to him, he only met the Vice Chancellor with his management team who also came to condole with the former Senate President, and as they were exchanging pleasantries, his photographer took shots of the moment.

He expressed surprise that anybody would want to make a political capital out of the outing which naturally should not generate any heat.

Igbokwe in the statement signed by the Media Director of his campaign team, Mr Alozie Uzoukwu cautioned mischief makers to stop making a hill out of an anthill.

He said that the VC should not be crucified for commiting no crime, adding that there is nothing bad in exchanging pleasantries with a governorship aspirant.
