PRESIDENT JONATHAN FORMALLY DECLARES TO RUN FOR 2015 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

President Goodluck Jonathan has formally declared his intention to run for thd 2015 presidential election. The president made the declaration at the Eagle Square Abuja.

 

At the declaration,the president decried the attack on a Government Secondary School in Potiskum Yobe State where scores of lives were lost and several others injured,describing it as a dark cloud for the nation. He also reassured of his administrations commitment to the release of the Chibok girls kidnapped on April 15th.
President Jonathan emphasized that the military apparatus in the nation havd been re-equipped to ensure an end to the senseless killings of the terroist.


He highlighted that the presidential initial for the northeast,the victims support fund,and the safe school initiative are some of the structures put in place to restore normalcy to the area.
The Presidential Initiative focuses on improving infrastructure and economic development in the affect region,thd Victims Support Fund is a government/private partnership to empower and rehabilitate victims of terror,while the Safe School Initiative is geared towards creating safe environment for the children in the communities to acquire qualitative education.


On environmental protection and conservation to reduce climate change,the president noted that the country has keyed into the African Great Green project and has released 16 billion naira for the actualization of the project which he described as a green bird to 11 states from Kebbi to Borno.


The president also highlighted his administrations achievements in the power,water and transport sectors.
President Goodluck Jonathan's declaration makes him the major contestant of the presidential election under the platform of the ruling People's Democratic Party,PDP.
