UMUNNEOCHI LGA is made up Isuochi Zone 1, Isuochi zone 2, Nneato zone 3 and Umuchieze zone 4. Historically, there has been a norm in the sharing of political positions in Umunneochi. Yes, the two positions shareable in Umunneochi as a matter of fact, are;

1. The Local Government Area Chairman

2. The Umunneochi State Constituency seat.

However, the sharing was very well respected by the People’s Democratic Party when they chose their candidate for the last Local government election from Nneato. That choice that produced Ifeanyi Madu as Umunneochi LGA Chairman was adjudged 'Equity' because all other three zones of the LGA had produced Chairmen for the LGA except Nneato (zone three). Simply put, the incumbent Chairman of the LGA is a product of Equity.

This time round, the second shareable position- The State Constituency is to be decided. It nonetheless gave a voice for the demand of Equity by Umuchieze regarding the House of Assembly seat. As is the case with Nneato during the consideration of Chairmanship, so it is for Umuchieze in consideration of State Assembly. Umuchieze (comprising four wards- Leru, Lokpaukwu, Lekwesi and Lokpanta) remains the only part of the LGA that is yet to produce a member of the House of Assembly for Umunneochi State Constituency seat.

How it went:

Isuochi zone 2 took the first swipe at it When Chiegeonu Nwankwo was elected to the House of Assembly in the early/mid nineties. Upon death by assassination, his wife took over in a bye election and ran out the tenure. Nneato (zone 3) through Engr Matthew Ibeh took over from 1999 to 2011. It was the turn of Isuochi zone 1 through Ikedi Ezekwesiri from 2011 to 2019. Without yet reaching zone 4, Isuochi zone 2 took it again through Barr Okey Igwe from 2019, just after serving out as LGA chairman.

Our Stand:

Having seen this undisputable analysis, it's the opinion of many that Umuchieze (zone 4) should produce the next member of Abia State House of Assembly for Umunneochi State Constituency. Considering antecedent, capacity and acumen, one man stands tall and best fitted for this masses' movement. He is Chief Ebere Nwankwo Esq. He is a former Supervisor, a former S.S.A to the governor and a leader of thought.

The Chairman of Regal Group is not just vying for election, he is answering a call from the masses. The masses have asked him to go and change the narrative, and here he is ready to hearken to the yearnings of the masses.

It is only in the interest of equity that fairness suffices.

Congratulations Nwachinemere!

We are determined to make it happen.

It's our affair.
