Abia State House of Assembly Holds End-of-Year Fellowship, Service of Carol & Nine Lessons

The Speaker, Honourable Members and Staff of Abia State House of Assembly earlier today held their End-of-Year Fellowship and Service of Nine Lessons in the Assembly complex.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji took the First Reading from Genesis 3:15-18.

The Deputy Speaker, the Majority Leader and other  Principal Officers of the House partook in reading the other Lessons.

Revd Chidozie A. Godwin took the sermon wherein he admonished all to live their lives with eternity in mind as that was the reason our Lord Jesus Christ was born.

Part of the event was the presentation of an Award of Excellence as Staff-Friendly Speaker to Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji by the staff of the Assembly.

In his response, the Speaker thanked the staff of the Assembly for their support. He said the 7th Assembly on assumption of office promised to improve upon the structure and system met on ground and that they have been able to achieve that. He promised that they will not rest on their oars but  shall continue to improve upon the system and leave a better Assembly for succeeding sets to improve upon.

The Speaker extolled his colleagues who he described as wonderful people saying that if not for their support and push, what has been achieved so far would not have been achieved. He described his colleagues as peace-loving people who have the interests of their people at heart.

While commending the staff for their dedication to work and the way they have been able to keep the environment clean, the Speaker urged them to keep up the good work as he promised to surprise them before Christmas.

The Clerk/Permanent Secretary of the Assembly, Sir JohnPedro Irokansi PhD, was also presented with an award as "Outstanding Technocrat".

In his vote of thanks, the Clerk expressed gratitude to the Speaker and the leadership of the House for the platform availed him to serve in his capacity. He also appreciated the staff for the award promising them that the best was yet to come.
