The Niger state police command have arrested one Umar Tambari, for allegedly beating his wife simply identified as Hauwa to death.

A statement by the police command spokesperson, Mohammed Abubakar, says the suspect murdered his wife for alleged acts of disrespect at their home in Emiworo village in the Wushishi local government area of the state on February 26th.

According to Mohammed, the suspect had asked the deceased to fetch water for him to bathe, but she allegedly refused. They started an argument which later degenerated into a fight which sadly led to her death. The suspect, however, accused Hauwa of looking down on him.

Mohammed said Tambari hit his wife with a stick several times, and she died on the way to the hospital, adding that the suspect had been charged to court.
