Post covid-19: Arochukwu community calls for massive economic growth

The indigenes of Arochukwu local government has called for a strategic plan to strenghen the economy of the various communities in the LGA.

This was disclosed yesterday when the clan heads of Arochukwu LGA made up of Aro, Ihechiowa, Ututu, Abam and Isu, paid a courtesy visit to the LGA Chairman, Mazi Jideofor Kanu at the council secretariat.

The meeting centered on issues bothering on Road linkage, Security of the area, chambers of commerce and Post Covid 19 Economic agenda of the area. The clan heads unanimously agreed that Arochukwu LGA being a boundary area needs to be security conscious within and after this Covid 19 pandemic, stating that it was pertinent to strategize on the future of the area as regards its economic growth and infrastructural development.

They however agreed that it was necessary for the clans to unite and speak with one voice. 

They appreciated the Governor for appointing Mazi Jide Kanu as TC Chairman of the area and thanked the Chairman for summoning the meeting which they described as the first time such an important meeting was called to deliberate on the way forward for the LGA. 

The delegation appointed a 12 man think-tank to further strategize on the issues discussed. They also prayed for the speedy recovery of the State Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD. 

In his remark, Mazi Jiedeofor thanked the Clan heads for attending the all-important meeting and reiterated the government’s commitment to deliver dividend of democracy to the area.

He assured that he would leave the local government better than he met it. He charged the appointed team to carry out their duties judiciously adding that everyone must remain safe to win the war against Covid 19. 

The meeting was attended by Mazi Dave Imoko and Mazi Jeremiah Onwumere representing Aro, Hon. Kalu Patrick Elechi and Hon. Kalu A. Kalu representing Ihechiowa, Chief (Sir) James O. Kalu and Okorie Nwankwo Ifi representing Ututu and Ezinne Grace Chijioke Okorie representing Isu.
