Dial-a-doc-direct: Ikpeazu tasks Abians to leverage on their mobile devices for adequate healthcare

The Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has tasked Abians to leverage on their mobile phones to get adequate healthcare.

The Governor disclosed this in his remarks at the maiden stakeholders' meeting of the Abia State Telehealth Initiative (AbSTHi) held at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia on Tuesday, November 26th. He assured of his committment to drive the Tele-health initiative to success.

The (AbSTHi) which aims to link the Abia State tele-care centre manned by medical doctors to about 292 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to support over 2.5 million Abians was launched in May 2018.

Explaining how the Dial -A -Doc-Direct initiative operates, the lead consultant of the AbSTHi, Dr. Omas Ubiame said the initiative works with Primary Healthcare Centers in the State. According to her, inidividuals are provided with special call cards with personalized PIN numbers. These designated number links the user to a Doctor at the tele-care center who provides healthcare services.

She commended the Governor for sponsoring the initiative even as she enjoined Abians to embrace it to enjoy affordable and accessible healthcare provision.

The highlight of the event includes the purchase of Tele-health cards by the Governor for all students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture and Nursing students of FMC and Amachara Umuahia who were at the meeting.

Top governement officials, a delegation from Globacomm( AbSTHi Telecomm partner) were present at the meeting
