Chairman of Enyimba international Felix Anyansi Agwu has revealed the race for this season’s Nigeria Premier League title will be a very close one.

The Peoples Elephant are currently ranked third on the log, while Kano Pillars sit atop the league with 47 points.
According to Anyansi, winner of the league would only be determined after the last round of matches while stating that the Aba giants are serious title contenders .

"It is not over yet irrespective of your league position presently. The league is not won yet. It is still wide open,” Anyansi told Goal.

"I remember last year it (the gap at the top) was even up to 12 points but it was narrowed to a point. The game of football has really changed and you cannot claim that you are winning the league at the moment until it is clear.

"I praise Kano Pillars. They are doing well and also fighting. It is not easy task to win the league back to back and also on the cusp of winning it for a third consecutive period.

"It is always very difficult to win it a straight three times because we have done it before and I knew what we passed through. I think it is going to be very tough for Pillars to win it this year. It will be a fight to the finish.

The vice chairman of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation also hailed the performance of his boys in their 4-0 thumping of Bayelsa United in a Week 27 league match played at Aba on Sunday .

"It was a fantastic football. The flow was good. It is not about the scoreline alone. I am happy with the good margin but what is more important is the quality of the game played.

"Both teams played well but Enyimba players were more committed and hungrier after the loss to Akwa United at Uyo in the last game. It wasn’t the best of our game at all but I am happy with the response from the players with this impressive win against Bayelsa United,” Anyansi concluded
