Fourty-nine senators on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who had last week signed a vote of confidence on the leadership of President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, on Sunday reiterated their loyalty to him.
The senators wrote to Saraki telling him that they are behind him.
PDP senators, who wrote to Saraki, to inform him of their vote of confidence in his leadership, and that of Ekweremadu, said, “we support you.”
The letter followed last Tuesday’s failed attempt by law enforcement agencies, to facilitate the removal of the two presiding officers of the Senate, alongside Senators in the ruling party.
The PDP senators reaffirmed their support for the leadership of the Senate, stating that they are against any illegal impeachment of the presiding officers, while also emphasizing that the plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remove the senators was “dead on arrival” — as the party does not have the required votes to remove both Saraki and Ekweremadu.
