The FCT Police Command said it has set the machinery in motion to arrest perpetrators of Monday’s attack that claimed the lives of seven policemen at Galadimawa roundabout, in Abuja.

FCT Commissioner of Police disclosed this Tuesday while on an assessment tour of the location where the officers were felled by dare-devil gunmen whose identity is now subject of a discreet investigation by security agencies.

Daily Independent gathered that one of the police officers involved in the attack was in a critical condition in one of the hospitals.

Unconfirmed reports said the attackers shot the officers at close range before zooming off in their cars.

In a statement issued by DSP Anjuguri Manzah, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer said the intelligence department of the force has swung into action to unravel the whereabouts of the assailants.

While he commiserates with families of the deceased officers, he urged residents to go about their normal business, assuring that the command has deployed proactive measures to ensure adequate security in the FCT.
