Breaking: JOHESU suspends nationwide strike

The Joint Health Workers Union (JOHESU) on Thursday suspended its nationwide strike it embarked over a month ago.
JOHESU, therefore, ordered its members nationwide to resume work on Monday.
The union, in a communique issued at the end of its National Executive Meeting and signed by its Chairman, Biobelemoye Josiah said JOHESU called of the strike in the interest of the suffering masses and to allow for negotiation between it and the government as directed by the court.
According to the communique, the court took over the negotiations between JOHESU and government in its Alternative Dispute resolution (ADR) centre and that the two parties were to nominate their representatives in the ADR process within 24 hours of the NICN judgment.
“The Federal Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Labour shall nominate officers that have authority to negotiate on its behalf i.e the Honourable Minister of Health and Honourable Minister of Labour shall not be part of the committee,” it said.
The communique added that the agreement reached at the ADR centre would be registered in the court as judgment binding on both parties.
It said JOHESU was to initiate the process of allowing normalcy to return to hospitals within three days and that both parties were ordered to maintain status-quo ante bellum while negotiation lasted.
