Amidst the clamour for rotation of the governorship position in Delta State, a People's Democratic Party governorship aspirant for 2015 in the state, Chief Peter Olisaeloka Okocha has stated that Delta North will produce the next governor by divine arrangement.

The aspirant, who contested against incumbent Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in 2007 on the platform of the Action Congress (AC), said he does not believe in political power shift. He explained that it was divine arrangement that made Chief James Ibori, from Delta Central governor of the state in 1999/2003; same for Emmanuel Uduaghan when he emerged governor in 2007/2011 from Delta South. He is sure the same divine arrangement will make him emerge in 2015 as Governor of Delta State from Delta North.

On what he intends to do for the state, Chief Okocha who was speaking with select journalists in his Ibusa home today, said his intention was to empower Deltans through the Ogbemudia/Clark 'empowerment through education' style. "I don't believe in empowerment through bags of rice and beans. I believe in empowerment through enduring and long-lasting policies".

The former AC chieftain said he is a businessman in politics and "not a typical Nigerian politician who has no job". He further stated, "I believe in a political leadership where you leave office on a Sunday and go to your private office on Monday rather than remaining jobless until another cheap political opportunity comes for the lure of public office".

He promised to build industrial parks and develop infrastructure across the state. Commending Governor Uduaghan on Asaba International Airport and the Asaba/Ughelli road dualization project among others, Okocha said he will do more when voted into office. He cleared the air on his relationship with the Governor, having gone through many court cases in pursuance of his gubernatorial ambition. The businessman politician said he and Dr Uduaghan are brothers and have the same destiny.

Chief Okocha, against the widespread insinuations that he is former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar's political godson said "we are good friends with mutual respect for one another. We have been friends since the 80s while he was a Custom Officer. I was already a multimillionaire before I met Atiku Abubakar".

His solution to terrorism and Hoko Haram in Nigeria is provision of employment to teeming youths. According to him, Nigerian youths were graduating into idleness and criminality. "I will win the PDP primaries, the governorship elections and serve for eight years as PDP Governor" he concluded.
