Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has stated his administration’s commitment to support exchange programme between the Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) and universities abroad.

He stated this when the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), ABSU chapter led by the chairman Arch. Ochi Ejimofor paid him a courtesy call.

The Governor said that there is need for cross fertilization of ideas between the institution and its peers abroad.

He said he was proud that the reputation of ABSU has gone beyond the state and commended the Vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Uche Ikonne and members of ASUU for the achievements the institution has recorded recently.

The Governor promised to look into the request for the enhancement of the subvention of the university as well as their research vehicle.

Earlier in an address, Prof. G N Chima applauded the Governor for giving education a pride of place in his administration and for sustaining industrial harmony in the state and urged him to maintain his leadership focus.

He appealed for an increase in the monthly subvention to the university and assured him of their unflinching support.
