Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has called on churches in the state to uphold it's mandate of bringing the people into the light of God's word through the preaching of the word which is the mandate of the church.
This formed the talking point when the governor played host to the leadership of Assemblies of God Nigeria, led by Rev. Chidi Okoroafor at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Umuahia.
Dr. Ikpeazu described the church as a leading light and a movement driven by the Holy Spirit.
While thanking God for what He has done through the church in the society, the Governor noted that the impact of the church cannot be over emphasized and enjoined them to continue in their efforts at spreading the gospel.
The Abia State Governor revealed that the challenging times globally has affected every facet of life including the family and church of God and said it calls for prayers. He noted that the solution lies in God's word as Abia believes in God's awesomeness.
Governor Ikpeazu maintained that his administration remains focused despite the challenges especially in his five pillars which include Small and Medium Enterprises, Agriculture, Trade and Investment, Education and Health.
He said the shift to provide infrastructure especially roads, schools and good health with deliberate emphasis on Aba is because if Aba is gotten right, Abia is gotten right.
The Governor said the visit has encouraged him to do more and thanked the Assemblies of God church for their support and believe in him from electioneering to date, noting that they saw in him a ready partner.
He assured of his support for the church, while asking for their continous support and prayers at all times.
The leader of the delegation and General Superintendent of the church, Rev. Chidi Okoroafor said the church was on the visit to pray with and for the Governor and the state, as well as encourage him.
He prayed the governor to leave a laudable footprint in the sands of time as the Chief Security Officer of the state.
