Abia State Police Officers who are diligent in their duties are set to receive the Commission of Police's commendation award. This is to motivate and encourage them to do more in their duties. The Commission of Police,Abia State, Adeleye Oyebade,stated this while parading some suspects whose crimes included kidnapping, and armed robbery at the Police Headquarters, Umuahia. He said it is the vision of the Inspector General of Police, Idris Adamu to celebrate Galant officers who do well in their respective divisions. Parading the suspects,CP Oyebade condemned the height of kidnapping and armed robbery in Ugwunagbo and Obingwa Local Government Areas of the state, but insists the command would leave no stone unturned in clamping down on the activities of such hoodlums. He said the kidnap victims were rescued unhurt and suspects apprehended and undergoing investigations, while prosecution would be carried out accordingly. According to CP Oyebade, the state would collaborate with neighbouring states to fish out criminals in their midst. He added that the Safer Highways have been strategically placed to ensure safety on the states highways especially Aba-Port Harcourt Road. The Commissioner of Police further revealed that efforts are on to clamp down on baby factories in the state,while sounding serious warning to those whose buildings are used to harbor kidnappers and criminals in the state,as anyone involved will face the wrath of the law. CP Leye Oyebade, also revealed that some suspected armed robbers,car robbers and kidnappers were arrested on August 30, following a tip off. He called on members of the public to always give useful information to the police to help serve them better. Some of the suspects confessed to the crime, while others denied commiting such crimes. |
