Abia Traditional rulers honor Governor Ikpeazu

-Distance themselves from distractions by Uche Ogah and Nwosu

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, was honoured and conferred with the title of "ONWA ABIA" by traditional rulers of all the autonomous communities (734)in Abia State at Umuahia yesterday.

Speaking at the special reception held for the Governor by the traditional rulers in Abia State,  Dr Ikpeazu said he counted it a pleasure to be honoured by the entire traditional rulers in Abia State. He said that such demonstration of love is a confirmation that his mandate is divine and of the people. He thanked them for standing by the truth.  

The Governor maintained that the Abia charter of equity which seeks, among other things, to promote unity, equity and justice, remains one of the pillars that bind us as a people.

He observed that his administration has not done all it intends to do for Abia State.   In his words "We are grateful to God that as a state, we are making progress, though more needs to be done. I assure you that we will do much more in the service of God and our people".

Governor Ikpeazu promised to always govern the state with the fear of God noting that he earlier rejected every chieftaincy title awarded to him but sees the one given to him by the entire traditional rulers in Abia as a show of love and support therefore decided to humbly accept that which in their wisdom they found him worthy of.

Earlier,  the chairman of the occasion, elder Emma Adaelu, noted that such event is unprecedented in the history of Abia. He said  that the reception held for the Governor is an indication that Abia State is done with the issue of governorship tussle.

Chief Tony Enukaeme aka Tonimas, thanked the traditional rulers for standing firm.  He told everyone that having lived in Abia State for more than fifty four (54) years, he believes and understands power rotation as embedded in the Abia charter of equity.

Chairman of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers and Leader of the delegation, HRM Eze Eberechi Dick, pleaded with politicians to emphasize on those things that unite citizens. He thereafter  made it known that whoever wishes to lead Abia State must present himself to the people for assessment since power is from the people. He warned politicians to be mindful and avoid those things that could bring enmity, disunity and rancor.

Eze Ngozi Nwoke of Mgboko autonomous community in Obingwa LGA, the autonomous Ruler of Bar F. N. NWOSU hometown and HRM Eze Silas Chukwu , the traditional ruler in Uturu, Isuikwuato, cautioned and distanced themselves from Friday Nwosu and Uche Ogah’s "inordinate ambitions", and strongly advised the duo to discontinue the legal distractions and allow Dr Ikpeazu to focus and deliver on the mandate given to him by Abians, in the interest of peace and prosperity of the State.
