Ohaneze Ndigbo has called on Governors from the Southeast to work together in a bid to ensuring a stronger Igbo race.
The call was made when the National Executives of the forum led by its President General, Chief Gary Gariwey paid a solidarity visit to the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu at Government House, Umuahia.

Gariwey who said the group were in the state to show support and solidarity to the Governor owing to growing concerns on happenings in the state, noted that the visit was remarkable because it marked the 50th memorial service of the late Aguiyi Ironsi.

According to him, the major challenge of the Igbo race is lack of unity and love for one another. He noted that Igbo's play a critical role in safeguarding the values of the nation.

The President General of the Ohaneze Ndigbo said they were in the state to share their thoughts with the Governor and noted that Abia State has always been in the forefront of fighting the Igbo cause.

On political situation in the state, Gariwey said the illegality that would lead to change of government in the state would not be supported by Ohaneze Ndigbo, and prayed God sustains the tenure of the Governor.
He said "we wish you well, we want to be seeing you often, to help build a strong Ohaneze Ndigbo that would influence the people".

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said the visit was significant because of three things, the nation stood still to celebrate a great man, Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi, it points light to what the true situation of Nigeria should be despite ethnicity and tribalism, and redefines the socio-political history of Nigeria.
He decried a situation where Igbo's employ more than 30 percent of youths wherever they are found, and forget to think home first, thereby creating disharmony in the success of Igbo's in the business community.

Governor Ikpeazu expressed confidence that the Ohaneze Ndigbo would drive the Igbo success, while pledging the support of the state government for the project of the forum.
