Unical alumni solidarity for Gov. Ikpeazu

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF A SOLIDARITY RALLY HELD AT THE UNIVERISTY OF CALABAR ON THE 19TH OF JULY, 2016, IN SUPPORT OF OUR FIRST SEED IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE, ABIA STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY, DR. OKEZIE IKPEAZU
On the 19th of July, 2016, a special solidarity rally was held at the University of Calabar in honour and solidarity for a great alumnus of the University of Calabar and our first seed in Government House, Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who is currently being persecuted by enemies of Nigeria’s Democracy and others bent on depriving the great people of Abia state sterling leadership and tangible dividends of democracy.
Subsequently, the following resolutions were reached:
1. That customer (friendly judgments) emanating from the judiciary in recent times have made the judicial arm one of the greatest threats to the growth and development of our democracy.
2. We ask the NJC to seriously restore the confidence of the masses on the judiciary as the last beacon of hope by investigating and flushing out judges who compromise on the sacred principles of justice, equity and natural justice.
3. The University of Calabar Alumni Association like many other Nigerians are optimistic that the matter currently on appeal will be resolved according to the tenets of law and in a manner that will further strengthen the fabrics of the Judiciary as a critical sector of our evolving democracy.
4. We urge the great people of Abia State not to become despondent by the ongoing challenges towards the collective liberation and emancipation of the people from the shackles of poverty and underdevelopment of Aba. The ongoing massive development of Aba and other sites attest to that.
5. The Alumni Association of the University of Calabar restate its total confidence that the judiciary will come out strong from the ongoing challenges to become a true beacon of hope and the custodian of the peoples mandate to protect democracy.
6. We wish our great alumnus, His Excellency, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu a very successful tenure.
