House of Representatives has reached a decision to set up an ad-hoc committee to look into the utilization of funds received from the federal government by state governors for the payment of workers salaries.

This decision followed the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance sponsored by Karimi Steve from PDP Kogi state to investigate the disbursement and utilization of the bailout funds by state governors.

Rather than utilize the funds for the purpose for which they were released, he noted that many state governors logded the funds in interest yielding accounts while their employees continue to wallow in hunger, poverty and lack.

The lower chamber expressed concern over reports that the bailout funds were not used for the payment of workers salary by some state governors.
