Members of the Benue State House of Assembly have abandoned their office and their counterparts who are placed under watch by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Many of the state’s legislators, including principal officers, were recently interrogated by the EFCC, in Abuja, over alleged N750, 000 messy car deals.

Dailytrust reports that the lawmakers abandoned their office for their supporting members of staff, who were seen either chatting in groups or watching television.

The speaker of the Assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange, who was granted bail at the  weekend, after his interrogation by the EFCC, was sighted in Makurdi, yesterday.

The deputy speaker, James Okefe, and, at least, 15 legislators were believed to have been detained by the EFCC.

However, the chief press secretary to the speaker, Bem Abunde, said that the Assembly complex was undergoing renovation amounting adducing that as the reason the legislators are not seen in the complex.
