Ukwa Can Transform Abia's Economy : Gov Ikpeazu

Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has said Ukwa-East and West and Ugwunagbo Local Governments has what it takes to transfer the states economy and become the next economic stop over of the state, if properly harnessed.  The Governor stated this at the town hall meeting held at the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA), Obehie, held for the three local governments.

He said Abia was included as one of the oil producing states of the federation because of the oil rich mineral deposit in the area. 
Governor Ikpeazu said he intends to build link roads to the local governments to connect the local governments to encourage economic growth and development.

The Governor promised to rehabilitate 10 schools in each of the 17 local governments of the state to encourage educational growth.  He added that 4 billion Naira has already been allocated for the project from both the state and federal government.

While decrying the spate of kidnapping in the area, the Governor revealed that Ogwe in Ukwa West would soon become a poultry village with the state's intention to collaborate with Obasanjo Farms to make it a reality and said the state is seeking for ways to mechanize Agriculture in the state.

At Abia State Polytechnic, Pavilion, Aba where the event was held for Aba North and South and Obingwa Local Governments, the Governor said to save Aba residents from deplorable conditions of roads which has lingered for a long time, his administration decided to embark on road reconstruction with good drainage channels.

On Port Harcourt Road, he said the state government has engaged the World Bank on 200 billion dollars bank loan with a drainage of 13 kilometers. 
He said before the end of the year, work could begin on the road, but noted that houses would be pulled down if that must be achieved.

Dr. Ikpeazu said he is committed to solving road problems in the state, and noted that the problem with Ife Obara at Faulks Road would be solved ones and for all.

He encouraged youths to develop and harness their skills especially in carpentry, tailoring, to encourage the youth empowerment program of his administration.
