February the 17th 2016 will remain indelible in the history of Abia State. This is because; the day marked the beginning of a new Abia, as the state was rededicated to God by Rev. Dr. Umah Ukpai, who urged Abians to develop love for God in order to experience a new heights in all ramifications

The Umuahia Township Stadium was filled to capacity as Abia sons and daughters from far and near came in their numbers to be part of the event, which was also a celebration of the victory of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu at the Supreme Court.

The first reading of the event was taken from Psalms 126 by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

In his homily, the President, Eastern Nigeria Union Conference of the Seventh day Adventist Church, Pastor Bassey Udoh, speaking on the message ”Who is man that God is mindful of Him?”,cited David as a example of how God could pick someone from nowhere and enthrone him. Udoh, who described man as a customized in the image of God, said God, is mindful of everything man does and therefore man can’t afford to be careless.

He said the finger of God is visible in Abia as he has decided to visit the state by choosing the governor as a vessel through which His agenda for the state will be achieved.

He said the governor is on a mission of restoration, redemption and change, while praying for the best of times in the state.

There were song renditions from the Seventh Day Adventist Church choir, as Felix Ndukwe and Chinyere Udoma thrilled the audience.

Prayers were also offered for the nation, governor, state and the people.

Then came the time for the business of the day; the rededication of the state by Rev. Dr. Umah Ukpai.

In his admonition, Dr. Umah Ukpai who took his text from Hosea 12, urged the governor not to be deterred by the activities of the enemies, but should seek to have an encounter with the living word of God on daily basis, and inquire of God on how to move the state forward.

He said God will send destiny helpers to Abia, while enjoining the people of the state to love God and eschew evil.

He further decried kidnappings and killing in the state, as he prayed for a peaceful new Abia.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in his speech said the event was symbolic because it was a victory in triumph for unity, power and desire to be achieved. An end to the politics of exclusion in the state.

He described his emergence as the project of God and said it’s not about him but about what God intends to do with Abia state.
