Abia State Government under the leadership of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is currently experimenting with rigid pavement technology in road constructions at Aba.

According to the governor who previously spoke with newsmen on the application of the technology that was used in many developed countries, the technology offers relatively cheaper but more durable option in road construction at Aba given the prevalent soil type. When completed, the roads which come with gutters and street lights are expected to last longer than conventional roads.

Ochefu, Owerri and seventh day roads in Aba ate currently being done with this technology.

Pictured is ongoing work at Ochefu Road Aba where the Concrete Paving Technology is being used to build a brand new road. According to the one of the aides of the Governor, "the whole idea is to deliver to the people a long lasting and user friendly Road considering the terrain and soil's composition of the above mentioned Road."
"And to the Glory of God, work is in progress at the moment and the Contractor is living up to expectations."

Currently, the Government of Governor Ikpeazu is reconstructing 31 roads with more expected to be commenced this dry season. Our reporters who visited some of the project sites applauded the quality of construction at various locations in Aba.
