FG To Boost Universal Health Care With ICT

In a bid to improve Universal Health Care, UHC, in the country, the Federal Government has announced its readiness to improve the health care system using Information Communication Technology ICT by 2020 to save one million lives, across the nation.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Communications Technology, Dr. Tunji Olaopa made the announcement at the preparatory technical meeting to Africa E-Health Summit 2016, held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
Represented by, Tope Fadeshemi, Olaopa noted that work was ongoing to ensure the goal is attained, describing the involvement of ICT as a laudable initiative.

Olaopa, added that, one of the roles of ICT health was the development of national framework to guide and provide direction for the deployment and utilization of ICT in health care, which it hopes to make possible through synergies with all Ministries Departments and Agencies.
It could be recalled that Ministry of Health and Communication Technology came together in 2012 with the support of the United Nations Foundation (UNF) to form what was called using ICT to Save One Million Lives (SOMLs),which both ministries have been working together achieve.
