Reps Summons NERC, Others Over Poor Power Supply

The House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on Power has summoned the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Discos and the Bureau of Public Enterprises to explain why electricity supply was not commensurate to the bills paid by Nigerians.
The committee, headed by Benjamin Benson expressed doubt over whether Nigerians were getting value for the privatization of the power sector.
The House seeks to know the methods used in verifying investments claimed by Discos, the billing process, evidence that the NERC is performing its functions in the interest of Nigerians and the justification for the proposed tariff increase.
