The Nigeria military has said that more insurgents have continued to surrender to the troops in the frontlines.

In a statement by the acting Army Director of Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, the development was occasioned by the sustained offensives by the ground troops and the pre- emptive airstrikes by Nigeria air force.

Sani further stated that the ground troops had adopted route- blocking strategy to snuff out the terrorists from their hide –outs.

This he said compelled more terrorists to surrendering their arms willingly.

He said the Nigerian Army in conjunction with the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies will continue to employ effective strategies to bring insurgency to a speedy end.
