The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has reversed its decision to withhold the results of the 14 indebted states, with a promise to release the result today.

The Head of Nigeria’s National Office, Charles Eguridu made the announcement after a meeting in Abuja, with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, on the 4billion naira debt owned by 14 states.

The council reversed the decision because of the prevailing economic challenges facing the nation, prior to previously asking the affected states to produce guaranteed bank drafts before the results are released.

Egurindu however stated that the results were being released following appeals from stakeholders, notable Nigerians and the NGF, which had promised to resolve the issue positively.

He revealed that the result would be uploaded on the WAEC result website within the next 24 hours, adding that continued withholding the result would affect the educational prospects of the affected candidates.

He expressed hope that affected states would reciprocate the gesture by meeting their financial obligations to the council to enable it meet their financial obligations to its supervisors, examiners, service providers and other creditors.
