The Abia State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the opposition All Progressive Grand Alliance,APGA, of being responsible of the fire incident that engulfed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Obingwa Local Government. The state chairman of the PDP, Senator Emma Nwaka made the allegation while briefing journalists on the incident at the party's secretariat in Umuahia, the state capital.

The blame game has continued as both the ruling party in the state and the main opposition party continue to point accusing finger at each other. Senator Emma Nwaka who described the fire incident that enveloped INEC office in Obingwa Local Government Area as unfortunate, wondered why APGA has taken over the job of law enforcement agents who are saddled with the constitutional responsibility of investigating such matters
He explained that since the restoration of constitutional democracy in 1999, PDP has remained the dominant party in the area which is the Local Government Area of the Governor.

Based on this, he said the party has no reason to engage in arson. Senator Nwaka also accused APGA of burning down INEC headquarters in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area during the just concluded 2015 general elections which according to him, delayed the inauguration of the Abia 6th Assembly.

Earlier, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, governorship candidate, Alex Otti alleged that the burning of the INEC office in Obingwa was the handwork of the PDP,to fustrate his efforts at inspecting the election materials.

The fire incident that completely razed down the INEC obingwa Local Government area occured on Sunday August 2,at about 11am.
