Governor Ikpeazu Condemns Perpetrators of INEC Office Fire Incident

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State yesterday visited the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC)  at  Mgboko, headquarters of Obingwa Local Council which were set ablaze around 11am yesterday by yet to be identified arsonists.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu condemned the perpetrators, describing them as enemies of the state.
Governor Ikpeazu who  inspected  the scene of fire later that day,  expressed shock at the level of damage done to the property and charged the police and other law enforcement agencies to ensure that the culprits are brought to book swiftly.

The governor also called on the Police and the Army to beef up security in all INEC formations in the state to forestall such incidents.
He lamented the tendency of some disgruntled elements in our society to vandalize public properties, saying that it is a big drawback to the effort of government in providing dividends of democracy.

While reiterating the determination of his government to maintain law and order as well as protect life and property of Abia citizens and residents, the Governor also warned perpetrators of such acts as burning public properties to turn a new leaf as the current administration will not tolerate such deviant acts.
