Abia Governorship Tribunal adjourns till July 10

The Abia State Governorship election petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia has adjourned till July 10, the petition brought before it by the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Alex Otti,against the Peoples Democratic Party's candidate, Okezie Ikpeazu and the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA, had in an earlier petition of June 25 asked to be allowed to inspect the sensitive materials used for both the first and supplementary  by INEC.
The request was granted by the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Usman Bwala; to be carried out under the supervision of the Police, Department of State Service and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Counsel to the All Progressives  Grand Alliance candidate, Chief Awa Kalu,SAN, said the party has decided to withdraw its first request for the inspection of INEC materials, replacing it with a new one, having experienced fresh hiccups.
In a swift reaction, Counsel to the PDP candidate, Okezie Ikpeazu, Chibuike Nwokeukwu noted that it is in order for the aggrieved party to seek withdrawal to allow it put its house in order.

However, the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,Charles Esonu, who noted the allegation that he stopped the petitioner from inspecting documents, said the order of the court be upheld.

Meanwhile, case has been adjourned to July 10, for further hearing.
