Accreditation could not take off early in some parts of Imo State as voting materials could not be dispatched to the centres as at when due.

In Nkwerre Local Government Area, the Electoral Officer,  Mr Leo Anaeto explained that the drivers refused conveying materials from INEC office to the various wards and polling units because they weren't paid by the contractor. "There was no alternative because of the no movement rule. I pleaded with them to accept N60,000 from me but they refused. I tried reaching the contractor but he could not get here too because to him, he had a flat tyre. I pleaded and ran around before I could get these vehicles for conveyance".

As at the time, this reporter visited the office at 9:45am, materials were being loaded into a bus for conveyance to wards. As at the time of filing in this report, accreditation has commenced at the units with materials. The turnout is poor with few people at the centres visited apart from PU007 Ward 2.

Meanwhile, while the All Progressive Congress is insisting on seeing the result sheets and ballot papers before election can go on, the Peoples' Democratic Party has expressed confidence in winning the polls.

The State Chairman of PDP, Imo State, Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie, said his party "PDP will sweep the Imo House of Assembly seats and the governorship as well". Responding to the party's loss of the Presidency, he said, "PDP did not loose Imo state. Imo is PDP and PDP is Imo. We won before and will win again". He disagreed that there's voter apathy and insisted that on the contrary, the turnout is even higher than it was during the National Assembly elections on March 28th.
