APGA adopts PDP's Ikpeazu as April 11 guber candidate - DETAILS

The All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA, has adopted the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,as its candidate for the April 11 governorship elections. The party's decision is coming following an emergency meeting of the State chapter on April 7.
In what looks like a twist of fate. The All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA,in Abia State led by Prince Ukaegbu has endorsed the People's Democratic Party's candidate, Okezie Ikpeazu as their gubernatorial candidate for April 11 polls. The party made this revelation at the party's secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia State capital,at a press briefing.

At the briefing tagged "ENDORSEMENT AND ADOPTION OF DR.OKEZIE IKPEAZU AS THE GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE OF ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE,APGA, FOR THE APRIL 11TH, 2015 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION IN ABIA STATE" the Chairman of the party,Prince Ukaegbu said the decision to adopt Okezie Ikpeazu as candidate of the party is in line with the best practice in the party as evident at the National level and Enugu State.
The party in a communique signed by the State Chairman and Publicity Secretary said the party disassociates itself from the privatization and personalization of the party by the former Chairman of the Party, Victor Umeh,whose tenure ended on December 1,2014, and attempt to elongate his tenure of APGA National Chairman and turn it to a lifetime tenure.
The party also reaffirmed that Alex Otti remains a PDP member and not the Governorship candidate of the party and did not emerge through a duly and lawfully conducted APGA primaries conducted in accordance with the constitution and Guidelines for party primaries according to the party and Electoral act.
APGA also rejected in its entirety the list of candidates submitted to INEC, for Abia State by Victor Umeh made up of discredited and disgruntled members of the PDP who lost their various party primaries a day before the primaries of the party and thus displacing authentic candidates of the party who had laboured and toiled day and night to build the party over the years.
They however, enjoined all their teeming supporters and entire Abia people to vote en masse for the PDP at Saturday's elections.

The train moved from APGA secretariat to Abia Hotels where the party officially declared to the PDP,its adoption of its party's candidate as their flag bearer for the governorship elections.
The PDP Chairman,Senator Emma Nwaka, who described the news as heartwarming,said the decision by APGA is a step in the right direction and an evidence that their candidate is the right choice.
He urged Abia youths not be involved in thuggery during the polls to avoid endangering their lives,while calling on them to come out to cast their ballot on Saturday for the party.

In response,the PDP Governorship candidate Okezie Ikpeazu who described the event as symbolic said the good of the people of Abia State remains his watch word. He assured APGA that he will not betray the trust bestowed on him,adding that they will work together for the good of Abia.
Ikpeazu promised to keep to his campaign promises if elected on April 11.

In attendance at the event was the PDP and APGA state executives, and supporters of both parties.
