Nigeria's president-elect promises to end insurgency in two months

Nigeria's President elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has promised to end the Boko Haram insurgency within two months of his administration.
General Buhari who stated this during an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, noted that having known how the insurgents started, and where they are at the moment, his administration will give rapid attention to insecurity challenges confronting the nation.

The President-elect, who noted that the present administration made some mistakes in its fight against the insurgents, maintained that his administration will address the issues, while stressing the importance of the partnership with neighbouring countries of Chad, Niger and Cameroon at combating the challenge.
Buhari added that though the present administration has made efforts at combating Boko Haram, he described the efforts as not good enough.
He noted that the poor handling and equipment of the military,was a major setback to the fight against insurgency, expressing confidence that his administration will tackle the issues and handle the military differently.

Meanwhile,President of Niger Republic , Mahamadou Issoufu has revealed that the end toBoko Haram insurgency is near.
Speaking to VOA,French to Africa news service at a visit in Washington, he predicted that in few weeks or months, Boko Haram will be a thing of the past.

In a related development, the International Community have been urged by African nations to step up its support  to curb the menace of Boko Haram.
In a draft resolution to the UN's top rights body, the group of African countries called on the international community to provide active and multifaceted support to African nations ravaged by the insurgents.
