The United Nations have congratulated Nigeria on what it described as "the largely peaceful and orderly conduct of presidential and parliamentary elections."
Speaking through its Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, the United Nations encouraged Nigerians to continue to maintain peace, and exercise patience throughout the ongoing voting process and announcement of the final results, while condemning reported attack carried out by the insurgents in some parts of the country.
Ki- Moon, noted that he was pleased by the determination and resilience shown by Nigerians in exercising their franchise, adding that the successful conclusion of the elections, will mark an important step towards consolidating Nigeria's democracy.

Also, the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS,Observer Mission,EOM,has also described last Saturday's elections as meeting the criteria for a free and transparent elections.
The declaration, made by the Missions Head and Former Ghanaian President, John Kuffor, expressed satisfaction with INEC,Political Parties, Security Agencies and various entities on the electoral process.
Kuffor however, decried the insufficient and non availability of electoral materials in some polling units which led to delay in accreditation and voting process.
