Political Tsunami hit All Progressive Congress (APC) party as the Deputy Governorship Candidate for Abia State, Prince Fred Eke Idika defected to People Democratic Party (PDP) with over 20,000 of his loyal supporters within and outside Abia at the PDP Women's wing Presidential Rally in Umuahia, Abia State capital on Thursday 5th March, 2015.

According to Prince Fred Eke Idika, PDP governments in Nigeria have done well generally and the transformation agenda of Mr President deserves continuity. Therefore, joining the PDP is the best option for him and his teeming supporters since they have known better. He pledged his support for Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and other PDP candidates in Abia State as he described the PDP gubernatorial candidate as the right man to drive the vehicle of development from May 29th, 2015.

Other notable former APC members were seen at the stadium with Prince Eke who sat with the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate throughout today's event. Efforts to reach APC Governorship candidate, Chief Nyerere, for his reaction  proved abortive as at the time of publication.

It will be recalled that Governor T. A. Orji, CON, had at various occasions declared that APC does not exist as an electoral force in Abia State. According to him, "opposition parties exist only on the pages of newspapers and online social media with no structures on the ground to challenge the PDP in 2015 election".

Political watchers in Abia State see the defection of Prince Eke as a further boost to the PDP and her Governorship candidate, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, seen by political observer as the most qualified candidate among the candidates jostling to replace Chief T. A. Orji. Citizens and residents of the state see him as the most experienced, educated and God fearing candidate with capacity to transform Abia and Aba in particular.
