Interim government rumour subversive; President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has noted that the insinuations that his administration was planning to institute an interim national government instead of maintaining the May 29th handover date is subversive.

President Jonathan who spoke at the plenary assembly of the Catholic Bishops in Abuja assured all stakeholders in the political process that the general elections will hold on the rescheduled dates of March 28 and April 11, with winners inaugurated on May 29.

He maintained that an interim government is not an option,noting that the international community including the Economic Community of West African States,ECOWAS, the African Union, AU and the United Nations, UN will not allow Nigeria to be a pariah state again. President Jonathan emphasized that the rumours of an interim government amounts to a treasonable offence.

He however, described the postponement of the elections as a blessing in disguise, while giving assurance that the country will overcome its present challenges.
