BATTLE FOR SENATORIAL SEAT IN ENUGU HEIGHTENS.

The battle for Enugu-East Senatorial District seemed to have heightened with so many prominent figures joining the race.

With several primaries conducted at different quarters during the December 8, 2014 elections, and controversies, the incumbent Hon.Gil Nnaji was finally confirmed winner by INEC, following court injunctions, which seemed to calm down the polity.

This was followed by defections to other political parties, including Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, who emerged as the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Congress, (PDC), the same platform he used in 2011 to contest but lost to Hon.Gil Nnaji,
Former ALGON President and former chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Nwabueze Okafor went to All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), while Dr. Ben Nwoye is the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

Nnamani’s strides seem to be the reason behind the tension in the state as he is believed to be the people’s candidates.

Political analysts as gathered by factnewsonline believes that, Nkanu people would not forget in a hurry Nnamani’s  magnanimity and benefaction  and this might be the time to show their appreciation by voting for him en masse at the forthcoming election.

Meanwhile, the entrance of Nwabueze Okafor into the senatorial race might spell doom for Nnamani, the incumbent – Gil and Ben Nwoye.

While the polity gathers momentum, the electorates still say credible, free and fair elections are their expectations at the polls come February.
