The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has warned politicians to adhere strictly to the rule of law and provisions of the electoral acts or face the hard hammer of the law.

The warning is coming as political parties and their candidates begin their electioneering, just as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, debunked rumours that the forthcoming elections will be postponed, noting that funding was not a problem in conducting the elections.

The position of both INEC and the police was made known on Tuesday January 6, at the training of security agencies ahead of the general elections.

Abba, who spoke through a police commissioner, Mohammed Ghanzali, warned politicians planning to cause trouble during the elections to desist from such act and play by the rules.
