Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji, has inaugurated a 7-member reconciliation committee to reach out to members of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who were aggrieved following the recent primaries held across the state.

The committee is headed by former National Chairman of the party, Vincent Ogbulafor, who is tasked to steer his committee into bringing genuine reconciliation among all aggrieved members of the party at all levels across the state.

Inaugurating the committee at the executive council chambers of Government House, Umuahia, Governor Orji said the task before the committee was extremely urgent and charged them to see that the assignment was given the seriousness it deserved. He also charged them to ensure the completion of their assignment within two weeks.

He said the tension generated by the recent primaries of the party required seeking amendment to keep the party united and stronger, hence the need to harness the followers. In his words, the aim of the exercise was "to manage all avoidable lapses and resolve them amicably."

He stated that in every election some people were bound to fail but that it should not allowed affect the peace in the state. He went on to stress his commitment to peace. Responding on behalf of the others members of the committee, Ogbulafor commended the Governor for the peace initiative and pledged to support him to achieve his aim in record time.
